Influences
The progressive rock of the 70s is my favorite (Yes, ELP, Genesis, Rush, etc), as well as classic rock of 60s/70s/80s---Beatles, Stones, Steely Dan, Supertramp, Boston, Floyd, Tull, Wings, Foreigner, The Who....you get the idea. I like playing tunes that are exciting to listen to, hugely popular, fun to play, and good to dance to (but not required). 70s, 80s, 90s, or even the newest tune if it good and rocks. I like a lot of "newer" groups like Coldplay, Train, Sublime, No Doubt. I'm not interested in playing 50s-60s oldies (maybe a few) or the same stale tunes that so many cover bands play. No punk, metal, or hip-hop. I sometimes listen to that stuff but I don't want to play it. Think 100.3 plus 95.5 with some 106.7 and 93.1 throw in.
