Attitude
My attitude is an intelligent, analytical but also slightly random improvisational approach to heavy, epic, and well-defined original music with interesting chord changes. I like trying to mix rhythm and lead with open string parts into my riffs. I try to do what works for the sound I'm searching for. My biggest strength is harmony and creating chord progressions. Most of all, I want to make something where everyone in the band brings their own identity and character into the songs and are also united around similar musical influences and genres. I try to not imitate bands whose sound has already been taken, and try to channel the overall energy of my favorite bands.
Influences
In terms of metal, I am very influenced by the band Periphery. I love the soaring vocals with epic progressions and heavy guitar parts. Other metal bands I love include Animals As Leaders, Thornhill, Monuments, and Spirit Box. I have recently really been getting into Sleep Token as well. I also listen to jazz; my favorite jazz artists are Charles Mingus and Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, and Roy Hargrove.
Equipment
My favorite guitar is my semi-hollow Ibanez. I also have a 7-string Schecter, and a unique 6-string Samick, which I've used more than I thought I would. I am currently using a small practice amp with a Korg Pandora amp box for overdriven and distorted tones. I also use NeuralDSP's amp sims. I sometimes use FL Studio and used to use Bias FX. I would really like to get more equipment, such as Misha's guitar pedal for djent, a Fortin volume boost, an 8-string, some reverb and/or delay pedal, and possibly some high-end analog pedal for lo-fi jazz stuff because I'm also a big fan of shoegaze and Deftones, although I am not really chasing that style currently.
