*** BASS PLAYER WANTED *** HENDRIX EFFECT is a Jimi Hendrix dedication band from Crown Point, IN formed in 2023. We’ve played bars and festivals all over Northwest Indiana and Chicago. We try not to use “tribute” as we don’t really do “theater” like traditional tribute bands do (nothing wrong with that). We lay the music down as powerful and precise as possible. Jimi’s music spans many colors: blues, rock, psychedelica, beauty, space, dread, love.. we try to play a selection from each, but mostly self identify as “outlaw-Hendrix”. Band goals: We’ve been playing live for just over 2 years, are making a strong impact on the local scene, we’re already playing summer festivals throughout the Region. We want to be a regional theater and festival band. We’re not above playing two full sets in small smokey bars every once in a while, but the goals are full production performances that brings the music alive and keep it relevant for future generations. What We’re looking for: **Availability** - We practice weekly; it keeps us tight and allows us to really sharpen song endings, song transitions, vocals, and other custom surprises we bake into the songs. If you’re in 5 other bands, and have complex work/family commitments (totally understandable), it’s probably not going to work. Not impossible, but this project may probably be more than you want to add onto your plate. **Communication** - Must have great communication skills. We conduct most all our comms via facebook messenger (it’s a great way to share media, pin items, search old messages, setup albums, etc. and the same experience on an iPhone, android or computer) It’s understandable if you have no phone-access while you’re working, but you should be checking in regularly (booking season moves FAST..). Know how to use a calendar; we book months in advance. **Vocal**s - As a 3 piece band, we all have to contribute to achieve the power trio sound. We’ll always be encouraging for you to take lead vox on a song (or multiple), and be expected to sing backup/gang vocals where necessary. If you’ve never sung lead before, don’t worry. We’ll throw you in, you’ll love it, we’ll always be encouraging! **Pride** - Some songs are SUPER easy; some songs require cheat charts the first few times you play them live. Once you learn the songs, it’ll be up to you how well you want to honor the song. It’ll be up to you to be sharp on all your parts. The bass is completely YOUR DEPARTMENT, please know it inside out. **Promo/Social** - one or the other, preferably both. We feel strongly that “knowing your parts” is just the bare minimum. Being able to promote the band and promote our events is what sets us apart from other bands waiting for opportunity to come to them. When we play festivals, we promote on the socials, we tag the promoters, sponsors, production crew.. when we play theatre shows, we’re on the street, handing out flyers and selling tickets hand-to-hand. In this day & age, being connected to the socials IS the street team.
